:::ARSENAL WHOOSH PAST MANCHESTER UNITED:::

by Tahsin Noor, Webmaster@ Old Trafford

MANCHESTER UTD                 0-2             ARSENAL

Edu 35
                                                                       Sylvain Wiltord 52

ARSENAL splashed through the bad blood which simmers between the Premiership's big two to seal a deserved FA Cup quarter-final berth at Old Trafford with a 2-0 win over Manchester United.

Edu's deflected free-kick and Sylvain Wiltord's early second half strike were enough to maintain the Gunners' treble chance, while at the same time ending Manchester United's hopes of a trophy four-timer.

Apart from a glaring miss by Ryan Giggs shortly before the visitors' opener, the match will mostly be remembered for the bitter and spiteful manner in which it was conducted.....Read on

:::ARSENAL HOT ON THE HEELS OF RONALDINHO:::

AFP, London

Arsenal were reported Wednesday to have joined Manchester United and Inter Milan in the chase for Brazil World Cup star Ronaldinho who is keen for a move from Paris St Germain.
The 22-year-old striker, who has not played for Paris for four weeks after a succession of mysterious illnesses since returning from a mid-season break in Brazil, said two weeks ago he would be keen to play for Inter.

He has also been consistently linked with a summer move to Manchester United.

But Arsenal were now planning an 11 million pound (17 million dollar) bid for the player, according to The Sun.

Ronaldinho sent England crashing out of the World Cup with a freak quarter-final strike that caught Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman horribly out of position.

The striker was then sent off following a late tackle on England defender Danny Mills but returned for the final.

Ronaldinho's brother and agent, Roberto Assis, claims Manchester United and Inter Milan have already made contact.

But he insists that no deal is in place for the striker, who cost 6.5 million euros (dollars) when he moved from Brazilian side Gremio Porto Alegre to Paris in 2001.

Paris coach Luis Fernandez has put Ronaldinho on a special fitness course and said he could not sit out the rest of the season.

"We need Ronaldinho at 100 per cent," he added.

:::PLAYER FOCUS: PHILLIPE SENDEROS ::: EXCLUSIVE

A player focus on Arsenal's latest signing...an exclusive of Arsenal Xtreme!:

Full name : Phillipe Senderos
D/O/B : 14/02/1985
Nationality : Switzerland; Swiss
Previous Teams : Servette
Honours : International U-17 and U-21 caps

Senderos first caught the eye of Europe's elite managers when the talented 17 year old Swiss pulled off a handsome showing against larger odds in the recent Under 17 European Championship. Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier first approached Senderos and tried valiantly to rope the teenager to Anfield; Senderos was suggested by Liverpool defender Stephane Henchoz. Bayern Munich, PSV Eindhoven and Manchester United too have shown interest in him but the talented Swiss chose Arsenal, the main reason being the fighting spirit we have and the boyhood love Senderos had for Arsenal. He will join Arsenal next year and all talks have been finalized....we are indeed signing a very highly demanded player....a future legend!

:::DALMAT: ARSENAL?!:::
Arsenal have been linked with a move for £5m-rated French midfielder Stephane Dalmat, who is currently out of favour at Inter Milan.
The 23-year-old former France Under-21 has never been a consistent fixture in the Inter team since his move to Serie A from Paris Saint-Germain in April 2001. He now appears to be surplus to requirements at the San Siro, hence Hector Cuper's decision to let him leave.
But Arsene Wenger recently said he did not envisage entering the transfer market when the window reopens in January, instead prepared to stick with what he has for the remainder of the campaign.
Should Wenger in fact be preparing a shock signing then it is unlikely to be a midfielder who he swoops for, given that that is the one area of the team where he has top-class cover in every position.
Meanwhile, another reported Arsenal target, Fenerbahce's Turkey international goalkeeper Rustu Recber, has revealed he made a mistake by turning down a move to England in the past.
Recber snubbed an offer to leave his homeland for Manchester United last season, but now wants to come to the Premiership. With his contract set to expire in the summer, the Istanbul club are reportedly prepared to accept a cut-price £3m for him.
